Letter from the President

Greetings,

I hope everyone had a pleasant Summer. Now that Fall is here and schools are back in session please take extra caution while driving, especially when approaching crosswalks.

This years Celebrate Fredonia was a great success organized by the Celebrate Fredonia Committee and local community groups. I would like to thank Mark Edbauer Sr. who chaired this committee and all the committee members for their hard work in planning this event. Also, thank you to the businesses, groups and organizations that donated or helped in any way and to all of the citizens who attended the event.

What’s Happening in the Village?

The South Milwaukee Street detention pond has been completed. This means the Tax Incremental Financing District (Industrial Park) was closed and the following amounts were distributed to the taxing entities from remaining TIF funds: Northern Ozaukee School District $109,712; Milwaukee Area Technical College $22,864; and Ozaukee County $23,900.

As you can see, we did some minor street repairs in the Village. We plan to continue working on additional street projects as well as resolving some storm sewer problems in 2010.

Construction has started on an additional Public Works Building on Wheeler Avenue. This will allow the Village to continue working towards resolving deficiencies in Village buildings that were noted in the Facility Needs Study prepared in 2004.

We have started work on the Fredonia Avenue and Park Avenue sewer projects. The residents affected have been notified. If you have any questions please call the Village Hall.

I encourage everyone who is eligible to become a Volunteer for the Fredonia Fire Department. Contact Fire Chief Brian Schommer at 692-9973 if you are interested or for additional information.

If you have any questions or ideas for the Village feel free to contact me.

Have a great Fall and hopefully Winter won’t be too hard on us.
